“Tokyo Metropolitan Government” Corporate Identity

The Corporate Identity of Tokyo Metropolitan Government had been studied since 1985 in seeking the way of the government should be and the image for new era. GK Graphics had joined the project from early stage as the consultant of visual design systems. The corporate identity was required the view different from that of a private company. The identity has two aspects to identify a "community" and a "corporation."
The former is a policy to produce Tokyo as a community. The latter is a policy to produce government as an administrative office. It was planned to have environment to create a new Tokyo image through self changing of metropolitan government by actively promoting communication between the government and metropolitan citizens, and among the inside of the government itself.
