Rebranding project for Godaian brand
Azumanouen Co., Ltd.

Category: Packaging Branding Date: 2016

Godaian manufactures traditional Kishu ume-boshi (salted Japanese apricots) in Wakayama. Ever since their founding in 1834 they have pursued fine taste with a persistence on manufacturing products that convey the enthusiasm of the maker. This visual identity plan including a new mark and logotype was introduced to express a refreshed Godaian, inheriting the founding spirit and at the same time advancing to a new future. The symbol mark illustrates a laurel crown, expressing the form of fruiting ume (Japanese apricots.) It represents their pride and confidence as the premium manufacturer of the industry, inheriting the traditional legacy in the largest village living on ume in Japan and at the same time challenging new opportunities.
Along with the visual identity we also renewed their package designs, first designing the primary products in each of their product groups (ume-boshi, ume-shu or ume liquor, confectionery, seasonings and health foods) as basic designs to be applied to other products for a unified brand image. We aimed for a simple but high quality feel to give a new impression of products suitable as gifts to a close one or to the purchasers themselves.
