JR東日本のLED可変表示機の為の専用書体を開発しました。
仮名文字や漢字、欧文、数字など、それぞれの判別性や可読性を分析し、細部にわたった調整を施して、LEDで表示されたときの自然な読みやすさを実現しました。また、階調再現を駆使することで滑らかな曲線による文字形象を再現しています。2004年現在、新宿駅と東京駅に設置されていますが、その他の駅にも順次展開される予定です。
この計画は、2005年のグッドデザイン賞入選、SDA賞優秀賞、ブルネル賞（英国）に選ばれました。
We developed the font exclusive to LED variable signage device for Japan Railway East.
Natural and higher legibility of letters expressed by LED device was successfully implemented.
The result was brought by analysis of Kana (Japanese syllabaries), Kanjis (Chinese characters), alphabet and numerals in detail respectively for easy cognizance and legibility. Also quality formative reproduction of letters was achieved with smooth and curved lines by utilizing higher reproducibility of gradation.
While the devices have been currently installed at Shinjuku station and Tokyo station, installation of the other stations will be followed. The project was awarded the Good Design Award of year 2005, SDA Excellent Award and Blnel Award (UK).
