Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2019/Special Feature: Japanese Animation
VIPO (Visual Industry Promotion Organization)

Category: Branding, Environment, Graphic Date: 2019

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival started in the 1960s, the animation section branching from the Cannes International Film Festival, and is known as the largest animation film festival in the world with a long history. In 2019 Japan was the honorary country for 2019, with a special feature on Japanese animation, where we were involved in the art direction and design of the main visual identity and its application development for "NEW MOTION -The Next of Japanese Animation-," organized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
In this design, two circles symbolize Japan and its blossoming animation culture, expressing the expanding possibilities of animation culture. The overlapping of the two circles change in each media, expressing the dynamism of animation and conveying the program concept "NEW MOTION" in an intuitive and attractive manner.
Annecy is located in eastern France at the foot of the Alps, with a traditional old townscape and surrounded by beautiful nature. We planned the visual design as a way to add color to the town in the clear lush June air, and designed its applications on posters, banner flags, shuttle bus wraps, booklets, exhibition venues and other media.
