踏切は、鉄道・歩行者・車輌の交差点であると同時に、管理の視点からは鉄道事業者・国土交通省・警察庁・自治体のクロスする交差点でもあります。
　現在の踏切は、信号システムや車輌センサー・各種通信ケーブル埋設等によるハイテク施設ですが、基本的形態は明治30年来の方式を踏襲しています。
　この踏切は、21世紀に向けて機能的改良を軸としながら、四隅の黄色いゲート柱を環境の中で踏切の解りやすい記号としてリデザインし、提案したものです。
　同時にこのプロジェクトは、管理者の境界にある公共施設改修の壁を超える試行でもありました。

A level crossing is the cross point of railway, pedestrian and vehicle. The level crossing is also that of railway operator, Construction and Transport Ministry, National Police Agency and local municipal administration.
Although current crossing is a high-tech facilities equipped with signal system, vehicle sensor and various communication cables installed under ground, its primary system has been descended from the one applied in 1897.
This particular crossing was redesigned and proposed as its symbolic characteristics in the environment while being improved toward twenty-first century.
At the same time, this was the trial to resolve jurisdictional boundaries existed in between plural governmental management for improving public facilities.
