横浜市が都心プロムナード計画を行い、路面絵タイルを使用したサインや多種のサイトファニチャーを展開することで、人が安全で気持ちよく歩ける都心の空間を造り上げたのが1976年です。
　本サイン計画は、同地区でこれを補完するために計画された街路名称サインです。

It was the project in 1976 that Yokohama City produced the urban space in which people could enjoy comfortable and safe walking. The project was developed by planning the promenade in the center of the city and facilitated it with many kinds of site furniture and signage with picture tiles.
This Street Name Signage Project was planned to complement the city's project.
