2020年オリンピック・パラリンピック競技大会の招致に向け、東京は2012年5月にＩＯＣ理事会により、申請都市から立候補都市への決定を受けました。
立候補都市３都市（東京、イスタンブール、マドリード）の中から開催都市決定に向け、2013年1月にIOCに提出された立候補ファイルのエディトリアルデザインです。IOCの立候補都市に提示された質問状に回答する立候補ファイルのデザインコンセプトは「Discover Tomorrow」。東京の魅力を紹介する立候補ファイルとして、１巻/テーマ１～７（104 頁）：都市としての東京、２巻/テーマ8～10（124頁）：スポーツと都市、3 巻/ テーマ11～14（最大128 頁）：東京のインフラストラクチャーをイメージさせるデザイン表現としました。また各テーマの中表紙ではメダリストと子供の写真を見開きで掲載し、東京が未来のアスリートに向けスポーツ活動を支援する姿を表現しました。2013年9月にブエノスアイレスでのＩＯＣ理事会により、東京は開催都市の決定を受けました。
In the bid for hosting the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic games, Tokyo was chosen by the IOC as one of the official Candidate Cities in May 2012.
In the race for Host City between the three Candidate Cities Tokyo, Istanbul and Madrid, we were responsible for the editorial design of the Candidate City File, submitted to the IOC in January 2013. The Candidate City File, compiled to answer the questions given to the Candidate Cities from the IOC, was designed under the concept "Discover Tomorrow." It introduces Tokyo's appeal in three volumes - the 1st (topics 1 to 7; 104 pages) was designed to express the image of Tokyo as a city, the 2nd (topics 8 to 10; 124 pages) of sports and the city, and the 3rd (topics 11 to 14; 128 pages) of Tokyo's infrastructure. The first spread in each volume shows photos of medalist athletes and children, representing Tokyo supporting sports activities for the success of future athletes. In the IOC's session in Buenos Aires in September 2013, Tokyo was officially selected as the Host City.
