「世界鉄道デザイン会議」─JR東日本の駅・車両・コミュニケーションデザインとブルネル賞─JR東日本の駅・車両・コミュニケーションデザインとブルネル賞─の開催にあたってまとめた小冊子です。21世紀においても、鉄道が魅力ある交通機関として存在し続けることを目指して、世界各国の鉄道経営者やデザイナーが一堂に会し、意見や情報の交換を行った会議で、 民営企業としての2年間の鉄道とその周辺を美しく快適にするための活動内容を紹介し、日本最大の公共輸送機関を担うJR東日本の企業姿勢を表現しています。
ブルネル賞：イギリスのグレイト・ウエスタン鉄道の初代技師長であり、優れた駅舎、土木建造物、船舶等を残したI.K.ブルネルの名に由来しています。

Blunel Award and the communication design for the stations and cars of JR East. The booklet was compiled for holding "International Railways Design Conference." It was a meeting in which opinions and information were exchanged between designers and railway operators from many countries. JR's activities, for the last two years since privatized, for making all facilities relevant to the railways beautiful and comfortable were presented.
