Design for the Worldは、社会的規範を信じ、世界に変換をもたらす活動をしようとする個人や組織によって構成される、ボランティア非営利団体として1998年に創設されました。国際的なデザイン専門団体であるICOGRADA,ICSID,IFIおよびBCDが、発起人となってDesign for the Worldを設立しました。
本ポスターは1990年に東京で開催された第1回シンポジウム「Design for the World─地球をデザインする」のものです。シンボルモチーフは日本の"手毬"から発想し、世界の連帯・紐帯を表しています。

Design for the World was established in 1998, as a non profit voluntary entity, constituted by persons and an organizations who believed in social ethics wanted to be active in bringing world a change. The entity was found by an international professional design organization,"ICOGRADA," "ICSID," "IFI," and "BCD." The poster shown here was designed in 1999 for the first symposium held in Tokyo, organized by the entity, with the theme "Design for the World - Designing a Region." The symbol motif was conceptualized from a traditional Japanese hand ball, and expressing world cooperation.
