Digital Space Tour exhibit in Sapporo Science Center
Sapporo City Board of Education

Category: Web/UI Date: 2014

The Sapporo Science Center, reopened on 26 April 2014 after a renovation, has an astronomy and geoscience corner on the second floor. In the "solar system dynamics" area, a digital contents interactive learning installation is on permanent exhibit. The image of the solar system is projected on a round screen, to be manipulated with a touch panel controller. The planets can be seen from different angles, enlarged or reduced, or reproduce a particular date or time to observe the rotation and orbital motion. Astronomical events explained in the exhibit such as an eclipse or a syzygy can also be reproduced.
GK Graphics was responsible for designing the user interface of the touch panel controller. For smooth usability by children and a wide range of age groups, we designed a clearly indicated control area, at the same time aiming for a suitable expression for the beginning of a fun contents.
